A Midland family is whole again after the Midland Humane Coalition (MHC) reunited them with their beloved dog. MHC learned about the then-missing canine from social media posts earlier this month saying he was found on his own underneath a vehicle in triple digit temperatures.
"We scanned him, and luckily, we found a microchip! We immediately reached out to his owners to notify them," the non-profit organization said in a September 27th post.
Representatives from MHC discovered he was microchipped and subsequently made contact with his owners. As it turned out, the family, who went to MHC’s facilities to see the dog, have been missing him for five months.
"Thanks to his microchip, little GEO is safe and back with his family even after such a long time being away," MHC’s post read.
In light of the rescue, the non-profit urged pet owners to get their fur children microchipped.
"Make sure your pets are chipped to give them the best chance of finding their way back to you," MHS said in the post. "Never give up on your missing pet. If there's a chip, there is always hope!"
MHC said on its website that Midlanders with pets should contact a veterinary clinic if they need immediate assistance since there are no microchip clinics currently scheduled.
