U.S. Rep. August Pfluger (R-Tex.) visited two Midland Independent School District (MISD) campuses last week, News9West reported.
He arrived at Midland High just after noon, where he spoke to a government class, and later made his way to Greathouse Elementary, where he read to students.
The visits come after he hosted a town hall meeting in Coleman and recognized three Coleman young people, Braylin Miller, Oliver Crowther and Lear Vann, earlier this month at the Bill Franklin Center for participation in the 2023 Junior Business Academy, ColemanToday reported. The newspaper reported that Pfluger said he was proud of the kids who had invested their time to learn about business and finance.
Pfluger presented a Congressional Proclamation to Natalie Rose of the District Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) group, recognizing her accomplishments as the 2022/2023 state FCCLA president.
Pfluger is currently serving his second term. He represents 20 counties in Texas' 11th congressional district, including Midland and Odessa.
He also arranged to meet Killeen constituents. About 70 people attended, including many Bell County officials and Killeen ISD Superintendent Jo Ann Fey, the Killeen Daily Herald (KDHNews) reported.
“Some talked about the cost of living and their frustrations with government spending, the struggles of obtaining accurate and effective care through the Veterans Affairs offices, and even the harassment and bullying of youth in the KISD school system going unresolved,” the KDHNews report said.
