City of Midland City Council met July 11.

The City Council convened in a work session in the Basement Conference Room, City Hall, Midland, Texas, at 9:30 AM, July 11, 2023.
Council Members present: Amy Stretcher Burkes, Dan Corrales, Robin Poole, Lori Blong, Scott Dufford, Jack Ladd, John Norman
Council Members absent: None
Staff members present: City Attorney John Ohnemiller, Interim City Manager Morris Williams Jr., Assistant City Manager Tina Jauz
The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m.
The following matter(s), and any matter listed on the agenda for this meeting, may be discussed by the City Council:
1. Receive a presentation from the Community Services Department and Dunaway regarding the proposed master plan for Beal Park.
Tim Hair, Dunaway, gave a brief overview of the proposed master plan for Beal Park. Work has been done for the past couple of months to go over the overall site master plan for the soccer complex. The field layouts are designed to be flexible and reconfigure as needed. There will be several fields, an amphitheater, parking and possibly a future senior center. There are four phases of the park. Several questions were asked by Council to include everything from lighting to seating just to name a couple.
The probable construction cost $35,790,463.00 which is broken down into the four phases: Phase 1 $12,588,877.00, Phase 2 – $11, 564,872.00, Phase 3 – $2,272,330.00 and Phase 4 – $9,364,384.00.
Matthew Voss, President of Midland Soccer Association, also answered questions from Council.
All the business at hand having been completed, the meeting adjourned at 9:56 a.m.
