Midland High School announced that 2023-2024 “Dawg Day” will be August 1.
According to Twitter, Midland High School provided several details for the upcoming Dawg Day. The time slot for seniors is 9-11 a.m., for juniors, it's 12-2 p.m., and for Sophomores the time slot is 3-5 p.m.
The announcement on Twitter also provided a four-step checklist for students attending Dawg Day:
1. Midland High School Swag including gear and merchandise, held in the cafeteria and bulldog room.
2. School ID pickup in the library.
3. Parking pass in the small gym.
4. Registration in the yellow hallway.
According to their website, Midland High School is a Title I, 6A high school for grades 9-12. The school focuses on its students’ college and career paths, as well as all-around life readiness.
The curriculum offers AP courses, dual credit, and career-prep programs. There are also extracurricular and athletic activities available to students such as athletics, visual and performing arts, career, technology, and agricultural programs, fostering creativity and community involvement.
According to the website, academics are important in the life of Midland High School, as evidenced by its achievements. The school boasts a record of winning numerous first-place trophies in UIL Math, Science, and Computer Science competitions.
In addition, the Social Studies Department made a mark by securing victory at the national FED Challenge in 2000, resulting in over $100,000 worth of scholarships and grants for both students and the school.
The academic excellence of Midland High is further highlighted by its performance during 2003-2004. In that period alone, the school produced an outstanding total of five National Merit Finalists, 11 National Merit Commended Scholars, three National Hispanic Scholars, and two National Hispanic Honorable Mention Scholars.
