The Museum of the Southwest is currently displaying over 80 artifacts from Mesoamerican cultures from Feb. 12 to May 21 in an exhibition titled Precolumbian Lifeways.
According to the museum's website, Precolumbian Lifeways will showcase four various aspects of Mesoamerican culture through a range of items that date from 1000 B.C. to 1500 A.D.
The four themes will include objects to showcase domestic life, technology and art, beliefs and encounters and will demonstrate how ancient cultures met basic need requirements such as food and shelter along with the aesthetic tools and art they used to beautify their surroundings.
The items were organized by Dr. Grederick W. Lange of the Museum of the Red River and loaned from the personal collections of Drs. Ernesto, Luisa Lira, Dr. Richard and Nancy Weiss.
The Museum of the Southwest, located at 1705 W Missouri Avenue, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m to 5 p.m.
