Nonprofit group Communities in Schools of the Permian Basin recently gave a shout-out on its Facebook page to those who are recovering from alcohol and drug abuse.
“We are so proud of those of you who are living a lifestyle of recovery,” the group posted. “The hardest and most important investment you can make is the investment you make in yourself.”
The organization also thanked the Permian Basin Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. The two groups partner to offer recovery programs for those struggling with addiction.
“We know that recovery is not easy and we applaud every person who wakes up every day and makes the choice to be active in their recovery,” Communities in Schools said on Facebook.
The post provides links to other resources including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Above the Influence.
Communities in Schools was founded in 1999 to address the Permian Basin's school dropout rate.
"The vision of the organization was to provide a positive environment for at-risk students, ensuring their access to educational opportunities, social services and support services," the group says on its website.
