Midland Memorial Hospital has been recognized by Amwell, a national leader in telehealth, for its work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are incredibly fortunate to work with some of the most forward-thinking healthcare organizations, who show every day what it means to put patients and providers first,” Ido Schoenberg, chairman and CEO of Amwell, said in an announcement. “This has been a very challenging year and we continue to be inspired and energized by the passion and commitment our clients have for re-imagining what healthcare excellence looks like. They’re modeling the way to combine in-person and virtual care to create better outcomes for all.”

The newest category recognizes the efforts and response of Amwell clients prior to and during COVID-19 in digital care delivery from access to impact.

“Proud to be named a winner of Amwell Pandemic Activation & Acceleration Award in recognition of our quick response to the #COVID19 pandemic and our use of virtual care to meet care demands. Thank you to our team of staff and physicians that made this happen,” Midland Memorial said in a Facebook post

When the coronavirus began to spread, Midland Memorial, which also goes by the name of Midland Health System, immediately transitioned its telehealth program to all specialties.

“The health system converted typical in-person visits to virtual care to prevent the risk of virus exposure,” Amwell said in its award announcement. “It was important to Midland Health System that all its providers utilized its established telehealth solution instead of adopting non-HIPAA-compliant technology to conduct virtual visits."

Midland received the award for its agile and swift virtual response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“During the pandemic, the health system went from conducting roughly 30 virtual visits per month to more than 2,000,” Amwell said.

On its website, Midland Memorial has continued to post COVID-19 information regularly since March 13 and update the confirmed cases and deaths for both Midland County and Texas.

The website also provides maps to Midland Memorial testing sites, coronavirus resources, information on  visitation policy, how to make an online COVID-19 donation to the Midland Memorial Foundation, how to thank a Midland Health healthcare professionals and shares the CDC’s instruction on cloth face coverings.

Recipients will be honored at Amwell’s virtual Client Forum which brings together leading healthcare stakeholders across health systems, health plans, employers, innovators and patients.
