Getting in a workout should no longer be a problem now that gyms all over Midland have reopened.

But given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of patrons and employees alike.

Lisa Jebsen, the health and wellness Director at the Midland YMCA, told NewsWest9 that some equipment at her facility has been taken out of service in an effort to properly enforce social-distancing protocols.

Jebsen also recommended visitors practice good sanitation habits in addition to giving the next person that extra six feet of space.

“Make sure that you have gloves and that you have the wipes and hand sanitizer to ensure that everybody is keeping just as safe as possible as we reopen our doors,” she told NewsWest9.

The reopening of gyms occurred May 18 as part of the second phase of Gov. Greg Abbott’s plan to reopen the economy.
