Beltone is known to help the hearing impaired, but in these challenging times, the Glenview, Il.-based hearing-aid company is lighting the way for the Permian Basin.
A local Beltone center has adjusted its services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a way to help implement the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s social-distancing guidelines, Beltone is allowing customers to set up one-on-one appointments on the website and by phone. Or, they can even wait outside the office and honk for help. Garrett Morgan, Permian Basin Beltone owner, said his business wants to do something positive.
“Isolation is the number one thing that our patients go through and so to be quarantined or shelter in place is just adding to that and so we want to be positive, we want to be a light to everybody and this is our way of saying we're here,” Morgan told NewsWest9.
Hearing-aid batteries and hearing evaluations are free.
“The health and well-being of our customers is the cornerstone of our business and seniors are the core of our customer base,” Beltone says on its website. “Older adults are at higher risk for contracting COVID-19 and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have provided guidance for how we should operate to minimize the risk of infections. We are following those guidelines, as well as others from the American Academy of Audiology, to deliver the safest care possible.”
There was nothing complicated with Beltone’s efforts, Morgan said.
“This was an easy decision for us,” he told NewsWest9. “It's a way for us to give back. There's a lot of uncertainty right now.”
