ARTS COUNCIL OF MIDLAND: Words from the CEO

Community
Signing

Arts Council of Midland issued the following announcement.

Thank you to all our girls, parents and volunteers. Your continued support during this difficult time is much appreciated. We are continually managing the impact of COVID-19 on our council and all activities, programs, properties and business offices. Originally, we hoped to be back in our offices at the beginning of April. In light of the recent announcement from national, state, and local governments, we have made the decision to keep the offices closed and continue to work remotely until it is deemed safe to return to normal working conditions.

Everyone’s safety and health is our top priority. We are closely monitoring updates from the Center for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, and local public health departments within our council footprint. Our decisions about programming and workplace closures is based on the guidance of national, state and local officials. We will continue to give you updates through our website, social media and emails.

Our current status as of April 7, 2020 is:

All offices and properties are closed until further notice.

All in-person programs have been postponed, canceled or offered virtually  through the end of May 2020.

Please cancel or postpone all in-person troop meetings, service unit meetings, events, troop travel and other Girl Scout related gatherings through the end of May. We recommend you continue to meet virtually with all of your girls, volunteers and other key people to engage in Girl Scouts.

Summer camp: we are still in a holding pattern to see if camp will occur or not due to the pandemic. We WILL be posting the 2020 Summer Camp Catalog on our website for you and your girls to review and plan. Now is the time to find out what sounds like fun to them. By the end of the month, we hope to have a final decision. If for some reason, we have to cancel summer camp this year, the programs in the catalog will occur during the 2021 summer. Families will have time to plan for even more summer fun if they choose.

Business updates:

New phone systems: by the end of next week (April 16th ) when you call the El Paso, Las Cruces, Roswell, Silver City, Camp Mitre Peak, Carlsbad, or Hobbs offices you will reach a new automated phone system. All staff in those offices will have new extensions and an option for a directory by last name. The option for Customer Care is 0. It is just like emailing info@gsdsw.org.

Desert Dollars: the expiration for Desert Dollars will be extended. Once we are at a point of normalcy, an appropriate date will be announced.

Cookie Program and recognition items:

The Cookie Program has been extended through April. To assist with the issue of leftover product, we will be extending our Online sales for the Care to Share program to allow troops the opportunity to sell their remaining inventory as well as the direct ship option for those still interested in purchasing cookies. Packages donated can be used toward those who have been deemed essential personnel and have supported our local communities during this outbreak in addition to the USO and military service members overseas.

Recognition items: If the troop chooses to participate, the girls will receive higher recognition items based on the new levels met.

Cookie Camp has been postponed. We will be rescheduling once we have been cleared to return to normal working conditions. If your Girl Scout will not be able to attend the new date, travel credit will be given.
