The Midland Fire Department made the following announcement on Dec. 11:
On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, around 9:30 p.m. the Midland Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the 3200 block of Mariana.
The fire was caused by the ignition of a natural Christmas tree. The fire started on the first floor and extended to the second.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
If you have a natural Christmas tree, we can't stress enough that you need to keep it watered. Watch this video from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to see just how quickly an unwatered tree can burn.
