Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH) is observing National Occupational Therapy Month throughout April, as indicated in an April 11 Facebook post.
According to MMH, the hospital aims to promote health and well-being within the community and in patients' lives by helping them gain or regain self-care skills. The hospital explains that occupational therapy focuses on developing or regaining independence in activities of daily living. "With a holistic approach, we analyze, develop and implement a unique patient-centered plan of care for each client," MMH said in the post. "OT's treat all illnesses and injuries across the age spectrum with dignity and respect."
These services are available at MMH’s main campus, located at 400 Rosalind Redfern Grover Parkway, and West Texas Therapy in the Legions Building. For more information, individuals can contact either West Texas Therapy at (432) 221-4915 or the hospital at (432) 221-1627.
According to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), National Occupational Therapy Month is a commemorative campaign aimed at both honoring the profession and raising awareness about it.
