Midland Development Corporation awards $500K to local businesses through 2024-25 Entrepreneurial Challenge

Five local businesses win the 2024-25 Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge | Midland Development Corporation

The Midland Development Corporation (MDC), in collaboration with the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification (CEED), announced the winners of the 2024-25 Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge during an award ceremony on March 3.

The five winners included:

KidTown Daycare: A childcare facility that will address the childcare crisis by expanding with the awarded funds.

Flourish Speech Therapy: A practice offering specialized speech therapy services.

Pearl Head Spa: A wellness center focusing on head spa treatments.

I'd Rather Bake: A bakery, which provided desserts at the award ceremony, that will use the awarded funds to expand a second store front.

AnnGee's Barber Academy: An institution offering barber training and education. The company has graduated 277 students.

The Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge aims to identify and support new businesses in Midland through business plan creation, market research, and financial training. Local businesses benefit from the program by receiving portions of the prize money to support their ventures.
