The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Protecting American Energy Production Act, introduced by Congressman August Pfluger from Texas. The legislation aims to prevent any federal ban on hydraulic fracturing, a method used in energy production.
Congressman Pfluger expressed his support for the bill's passage, stating, "When President Biden took office, his administration took a 'whole of government' approach to wage war on American energy production, pandering to woke environmental extremists and crippling this thriving industry." He added that the bill is a step towards reversing what he describes as Biden’s war on energy and aligns with former President Trump's pro-energy agenda.
House Republican leaders have shown their support for Pfluger's efforts. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson commented, "House Republicans are putting an end to the Democrats' war on American energy. Today’s passage of the Protecting American Energy Production Act helps restore American energy dominance and protects the jobs of hardworking men and women."
Representative Bruce Westerman highlighted America's progress in energy independence due to advancements in fracking technology. He said, “Today, Congress recognized the transformational impact of American innovation in energy.”
Chairman Brett Guthrie emphasized a return to reliable power generation: “After four years of failed energy policy from the Biden Administration, it’s time to return to American energy dominance.”
Representative Troy Balderson also praised the bill as beneficial for Ohio's energy producers: “Today’s passage...is a victory for Ohio’s energy producers and the future of American energy dominance.”
The Permian Basin in Pfluger's district played a significant role in what is known as the shale revolution through fracking and horizontal drilling methods.
