Congressman August Pfluger, along with Congressman Jodey Arrington and Senator John Hoeven, has introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) aimed at reducing energy costs and supporting President Trump's pro-energy agenda. The CRA seeks to overturn the Environmental Protection Agency's regulation on waste emissions from petroleum and natural gas.
Rep. Pfluger criticized former President Biden's policies, stating, "Biden’s burdensome natural gas tax has handicapped technological innovation, reduced supplies of affordable energy, and increased both costs and emissions." He emphasized the need to restore American energy dominance under President Trump.
Rep. Arrington expressed his support for the CRA by highlighting its role in preserving low-cost energy production. He stated that the Waste Emissions Charge is an unnecessary regulation targeting oil and gas, which he described as "the lifeblood of our economy."
Senator Hoeven pointed out that undoing the effects of previous administration policies requires significant effort. "Through efforts like this CRA resolution, we are working to get our nation back on the right track," he said.
The CRA is backed by several representatives including Troy Balderson, Gabe Evans, Mike Carey, Michael Rulli, Gary Palmer, Dan Crenshaw, John Joyce, Randy Weber, Bob Latta, Nick Langworthy, Buddy Carter, and Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
Several American Energy Groups have shown support for Rep. Pfluger's legislation. Anne Bradbury of the American Exploration & Production Council remarked on the importance of repealing EPA’s rule to implement the natural gas tax. Amanda Eversole from API praised Rep. Pfluger for taking steps toward repealing what she termed a misguided rule.
Jeff Eshelman from IPAA expressed appreciation for Congressman Pfluger's leadership in attempting to nullify regulations established by the Biden Administration concerning methane taxes.
