Thermal Scientific has announced that its Odessa branch has been awarded the 2024 Wally Cup. This annual award recognizes outstanding team performance across all company locations. The Wally Cup is named after Wallace “Wally” Wilhelm, the founder of Thermal Scientific, who established the company in 1962. Known for his tradition of celebrating yearly successes and challenges with a glass of Seagram’s VO whiskey, Wally honored those who excelled each year.
CEO Coby Wishert expressed his admiration for the difficulty in selecting this year's recipient: “I absolutely love how difficult it was to pick this year’s Wally Cup recipient,” he said. He noted that all five branches experienced significant growth and improvements but highlighted Team Odessa's exceptional achievements. "But in the end, when I imagined telling my grandfather, Wally, about Team Odessa’s year, I could almost hear him exclaim, ‘Great Scott!’”
Team Odessa achieved remarkable revenue growth with a 9% increase year-over-year. They also demonstrated stellar sales efficiency with a 99.50% quote-to-close ratio and maintained an impressive Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 95%. Their operational excellence included meeting ambitious goals for deadstock reduction and surpassing strategic goals by growing ten major customers.
During a virtual celebration attended by the entire company, individuals were recognized for their contributions to productivity, sales growth, and customer satisfaction. Team Odessa showed leadership through strategic growth in the bulk chemical market and consistently high quote-to-close ratios. They also optimized territory management to enhance customer experience and transformed warehouse operations using lean principles.
