U.S. Congressman August Pfluger has been appointed as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence for the 119th Congress. This announcement was made by Rep. Mark Green, Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security.

Pfluger expressed his concerns about national security threats, stating, "From the Chinese Communist Party’s malign influence to homegrown violent extremists motivated by foreign terrorist organizations, our nation faces one of the most dangerous times in its history." He highlighted issues related to border security and emphasized Texas's challenges due to what he referred to as "President Biden's border crisis."

Pfluger reaffirmed his commitment to working on securing borders and implementing policies aligned with former President Trump's agenda. He stated, "The Committee on Homeland Security is the most crucial in Congress when it comes to securing our border, and I am honored to serve on it for my third term."

Having served previously as a member of this committee during both the 117th and 118th Congresses, Pfluger also held the position of Chairman of CTI in the 118th Congress. The committee itself was established in 2005 with a focus on protecting Americans from terrorist threats and holds jurisdiction over the Department of Homeland Security.
