The City of Midland Utilities Department has announced an adjustment to its water treatment process in response to natural variations in manganese levels in the raw water source. The department has increased the amount of chlorine used in treating the water to ensure continued high-quality delivery.

Manganese is a naturally occurring mineral that does not pose health risks. The adjustment is a routine measure aimed at maintaining water clarity and quality. During this period, residents may notice a stronger chlorine smell, which is expected and normal.

Chlorine levels remain within safe limits as established by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The utilities department assures customers that it is closely monitoring the system and remains committed to providing safe and reliable water.

The City of Midland Utilities thanks its customers for their understanding and trust.
