McCoy, Bridges sign official letters to play football at collegiate level

Two Midland Bulldogs have signed their official letters to play football at the collegiate level.

Quarterback Stroman Bridges announced on X that he has signed to play football with Army, expressing gratitude to its coaching staff and adding "Beat Navy" in his post. Running back Elijah McCoy has signed his official letter to play football with the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). "Welcome to the Sun City, Elijah McCoy," UTEP Football wrote on X. Alfred Acosta Jr., Midland ISD Athletic Director, said, "Congratulations to @Elijah_Mccoy2 and @StromanBridges for signing to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level."

McCoy is noted as the highest-rated offensive commitment in the '25 class for UTEP, with a player rating of 85 from 247Sports. UTEP head coach Scotty Walden praised McCoy's leadership and professionalism during a news conference, saying, "His leadership is second to none. He takes care of his body like a pro." Walden further commented on McCoy's family and potential: "His family is first class. This young man is going to come in here and give himself a chance to compete."

According to ESPN, Wednesday marked the start of college football's national signing day when high school seniors sign with schools of their choice for the upcoming year. Student-athletes offered scholarships have until Friday to sign a national letter or wait until the next signing day cycle starting February 5, 2025.
