The City of Midland kicked off its holiday season on Dec. 3 with the annual Merry Lights Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Market at Centennial Park. The event featured a festive tree lighting at 6:25 p.m. and attracted a large crowd of families and holiday enthusiasts.
The event showcased more than 50 vendors and food trucks, offering attendees a wide range of holiday shopping and dining options. The Christmas Market also included live performances from local groups such as the Senior Center Line Dancers, the Legacy High School Choir, Midland High School Choir, the San Jacinto Junior High Orchestra, Midland Festival Ballet, the Midland High School Jazz Band, and Midland Community Theater.
In addition to the market and performances, families enjoyed photos with Santa Claus.
One of the event highlights was a projection light show, which will take place nightly from 5:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on the East Wall Building. The light show was a new addition this year and was met with enthusiasm from attendees.
The festive celebrations with the City of Midland continue with the Midland Merry Lighted Christmas Parade, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. Parade registration is open through Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.
According to the City of Midland, the Merry Lights display will remain on each evening through the end of the year.
