The city of Midland, in collaboration with the Midland Downtown Park Conservancy, is set to inaugurate the holiday season with the Merry Lights Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event will take place at Centennial Park, located at 200 W. Wall St., on December 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A recent Facebook post by the city promises attendees a "merry time."
According to the city's website, the event will include a shopping market, food trucks, live performances, photo opportunities with Santa Claus, and the tree lighting itself.
In her own Facebook post, Mayor Lori Blong expressed enthusiasm for what she described as a new tradition that will illuminate the city.
Blong said that Merry Lights offers people an opportunity to "slow down and soak in the magic of Christmas." She added, "It’s the kind of evening that reminds us why Midland is such a special place to call home," inviting citizens to bring their friends and family.
