Waystone Brewery is heating up this November with a special board game tutorial night featuring Flamecraft, a whimsical game where players collaborate with dragons to craft enchanted goods. The event, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m., promises an evening of fun, learning, and magic.
General Manager Janece Brown will lead the event, sharing her expertise and passion for the popular game.
“Flamecraft is one of my favorite go-to games to recommend to groups that have about an hour or so of time to kill,” Brown said. “It has a super cute art style, and it offers casual fun but also slightly competitive gameplay that I believe makes it a well-rounded game.”
Participants will learn to “work” with dragons to gather resources, use enchantments, and boost their reputation—all while competing to earn the most points through clever combos.
“My advice for first-time players is to have patience and trust the process,” Brown said. “This game takes a little time to set up, but I’ll be here to guide everyone step by step.”
With just 10 spots available, the event promises an intimate and engaging experience. Brown will start by reviewing the rules, then offer one-on-one support as the game progresses.
“It took me about an hour to figure out the setup when I first played, but now I can guide players through it to make it much less intimidating,” Brown said.
Adding to the evening’s charm is a special treat: enchanted pumpkin juice.
“It’s a nonalcoholic hot drink our staff created for the night,” Brown said. “We thought it would be cute and fun to pair with the tutorial. It’s available to everyone, not just players, while supplies last.”
While Flamecraft won’t be a recurring feature, Waystone Brewery plans to host more game tutorial nights in the future.
“Each staff member has their own favorite recommendations, and we’d love to spotlight more games from our demo library down the line,” Brown said.
Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or new to the tabletop world, this event offers the perfect mix of learning, competition, and cozy fun.
“Don’t miss the chance to experience Flamecraft. It’s a game that’s worth the effort, and I’ll be here to make sure everyone has a great time,” Brown said.
