We have received updates on the large fire that Odessa Fire Rescue is currently addressing. The incident has been confirmed to be at Permian Basin Containers, located at 819 W. 81st Street.
As a precautionary measure, the immediate area is being evacuated. This evacuation affects 81st Street from Erron to Golder. Officials assure there is no danger of harmful fumes in the vicinity. The Red Cross has established an Evacuation Center at Connections Church, situated at Tanglewood and Penbrook.
According to firefighters, several buildings on the property have burned down, along with an RV and a couple of mobile homes nearby. However, Odessa Fire Rescue reports they are making progress in containing the fire.
