Lelia Ruth Miller, Longtime Midland Resident, Dies at 97

Lelia Ruth Miller, a pillar of the Midland community, passed away on November 9, 2024 in her home at the age of 97. Born on March 2, 1927 in Iredell, Texas, she was orphaned at a young age and raised by her Aunt Mary in Hillsboro, Texas. After marrying S. T. ("Buddy") Miller in 1948, she supported her husband through moves across the country and even to Venezuela before settling in Midland in 1964. Known for her warm hospitality and unwavering faith, Ruth touched the lives of four generations of family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her son A. Lee Miller, daughter Kay Brahaney and her husband Tom Brahaney, as well as four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Buddy, daughter Jan DeVault, and sisters Lucy and Helen Houston.

A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. The arrangements are being managed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland. Online condolences can be shared at www.npwelch.com.
