Rebels, Bulldogs advance to second round of playoffs, opponents revealed

Midland High School and Legacy High School have both emerged as bi-district champions, advancing to the second round of the playoffs.

According to a post on X by Midland High Football, "Dawgs WIN! 2024 6A Division II Bi-District Champions. Congratulations to Pebble Hills on a great season. Area Round details to come." The Bulldogs secured their victory over the Spartans with a score of 42-14, as reported by MaxPreps. Running back Elijah McCoy led the team's rushing efforts with 192 yards, setting a new season record for the Bulldogs with 2,074 yards. This achievement surpassed Dave Wafford's previous record of 1,990 yards set in 1936.

On Thursday, Legacy High School defeated El Paso Franklin with a score of 56-14. Ector Lopez, Rebels’ running back coach, expressed his pride on X: "Bi-district Champs! Couldn’t be more proud of these young men! Great team win! On to Round 2! Let’s keep it going."

The Bulldogs (8-3) are scheduled to face the Crowley Eagles (7-4) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Abilene’s Shotwell Stadium. Meanwhile, the Rebels (6-5) will compete against Euless Trinity (10-1) at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Astound Broadband Stadium.
