Midland to see rain and dip in temperatures to start this week

Midland is preparing for its coldest temperatures of the fall season as a fast-moving system of low atmospheric pressure is expected to arrive by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), another cold front will move through by the middle of next week. The area is anticipated to experience showers and thunderstorms before and after midnight on Sunday.

NWS Midland expects rain and storms to reach the region starting Sunday afternoon. "If you have any outdoor plans Sunday afternoon/evening, please be weather aware," the organization wrote on X. Alongside the showers, Midland will experience a very windy Monday.

"Hold on to your hats! Winds will start to pick up tomorrow evening and remain gusty through Monday. Be careful if you plan on driving through these areas, especially in high profile vehicles," NWS Midland wrote on X.

The NWS forecasts a high of 65 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 44 for Monday, with wind gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour. Tuesday is expected to be clear with a high near 68 and a low of 38. Another cold front is predicted to arrive by Wednesday, bringing the high down to 57 with a low of 37. Thursday's high will be 65 with a low of 40, while Friday's high will reach 68.
