The Midland Bulldogs and Midland Legacy Rebels are set to enter the playoffs with positive momentum, following victories in their final regular-season games.
The Bulldogs triumphed over the Permian Panthers with a score of 21-18. The victory was achieved through an Elijah McCoy rushing touchdown and two passing touchdowns from Stroman Bridges to Anthony Kolb. The Bulldogs secured the third seed in District 2-6A, while Permian finished fourth. "Tough, physical win last night," wrote Bridges on X.
In Odessa, the Rebels decisively defeated the Odessa Bronchos with a score of 75-22. According to Midland Legacy High School's post on X, "Great win last night; now on to the playoffs, LHS Rebel Football! Let’s GO! #rebelnation #EmpoweringforExcellence @RebelBooster."
Additionally, Rebel Football Booster shared on X that "Last night, the Varsity team (all positions group) got together to fellowship and eat some amazing food made with love by our parents! Luke Nisius and his crew with C&G Energy Services cooked burgers that were delicious! We love our Rebel players and trainers."
The Bulldogs, who hold a district record of 3-2 and an overall record of 7-3, will host El Paso Pebble Hills in the bi-district round of the Class 6A Division I playoffs on Friday at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, the Rebels, with a district record of 4-1 and an overall record of 5-5, have secured the second seed in their district and will face El Paso Franklin Cougars on Thursday at 6 p.m.
