Both Midland high schools are set to conclude their regular season tonight as they prepare for upcoming playoff runs.
Wes Torres, executive director of athletics for Midland Independent School District, extended his best wishes to both teams on the social media platform X. The Rebels will face the Odessa Bronchos in an away game. The Bronchos currently hold a 0-4 record in district play and 2-6 overall. "Good luck to @LHSrebelFB as they travel to play @OHSBronchoFB in their district finale at 7 pm at Ratliff Stadium! @Legacyrebels @AthleticsMISD," wrote Torres.
The Bulldogs will host Odessa Permian at home for Senior Night. According to Torres, Permian has a 2-2 record in district play and is 7-2 overall. "Good luck to @midlandhighfb as they host @MOJOFB1 in their district finale at 7 pm at Astound Broadband Stadium! @MidlandHigh_MHS @AthleticsMISD," he said.
Last week, both Midland schools competed against each other in their annual crosstown rivalry, with the Rebels securing a victory with a score of 28-7. According to MaxPreps, the Rebels' rushing attack contributed 204 rushing yards during the win. They will now face a Bronchos team that has lost its last five games. The Bulldogs have maintained a four-game winning streak when playing as the designated home team since last season. Currently, the Rebels are in second place in the district standings, while the Bulldogs are third. Both teams have secured playoff spots as the top four teams from the district advance to the playoffs.
