MIDLAND, TX - George McDalton Thomas, fondly known as Mack, peacefully passed away at his home in Midland, Texas on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. A graveside service to honor his life will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.

Born on January 21, 1932, in Huntsville, Texas, to Ida Viola and Mackie Thomas, Mack pursued his education at Abilene Christian College, graduating in 1954. Subsequently, he ventured into the furniture industry, a career path that merged his passion for design with his love for storytelling. Throughout his life, Mack's work in the furniture business and the establishment of Mack Thomas Interiors were accompanied by his zest for travel. His design inspirations from global travels found expression in his projects, reflecting a unique blend of cultures and experiences. Apart from his professional endeavors, he devoted his time to restoring a 1902 house in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, christened as "The Summer Palace," a place of joy and memories shared with loved ones.

As a devoted member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ and Fairmont Park Church of Christ, Mack embraced opportunities to lead and serve his community. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, dedication, and faith.

Mack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley L. Thomas; daughter Trayce Thomas Carr and her husband Jeff Carr; son Dr. Timothy C. Thomas and his wife Virginia Thomas; grandchildren Will and J.T. Carr, and Lily and Drew Thomas; as well as nieces and nephews who he held dear.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother, and sister-in-law Luther Ray and Sue, Mack's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to the supportive community at Fairmont Park Church of Christ and the compassionate team at Gentiva Hospice.
