The Texas Workforce Commission has announced a decrease in the unemployment rate for Midland, Texas. The rate fell from 2.8% in August to 2.6% in September, according to the latest workforce report released by the commission.
For comparison, the unemployment rate in Midland was 2.4% in September of the previous year. Despite this slight increase over the year, Midland continues to have one of the lowest jobless rates in Texas.
In September, Midland's unemployment rate stood at 2.6%, which is lower than Amarillo's 3.0%, College Station-Bryan's 3.2%, Abilene's 3.4%, San Angelo's 3.5%, and Odessa's 3.6%. The state average was reported at 3.6%, while the overall Texas average was slightly higher at 3.9%.
The civilian labor force in Midland also showed growth, increasing by 2.2% from September last year, reaching a total of 118,300 compared to last year's figure of 115,700.
