Passengers at Midland International Air & Space Port reached a milestone, surpassing 700,000 in fiscal year 2024. This marks the first time the airport has achieved such a figure within a year. Airport officials reported that the number of passengers boarding airlines like Southwest Airlines, American Eagle, United, and Delta exceeded 60,000 in September alone. The total for FY 2024 stood at 740,219 passengers, an increase of 11.84% compared to the previous fiscal year.
The airport also saw an increase in parking revenues, reporting $8.271 million for FY 2024—a rise of 15.26% from $7.176 million in FY 2023.
Southwest Airlines led with 354,928 passengers throughout FY 2024, accounting for nearly half of all passengers using the four major airlines at Midland International.
The fiscal year for Midland begins in October and concludes in September of the following year.
A detailed breakdown showed that Southwest had 26,457 revenue passengers in September alone. Meanwhile, American Eagle had 15,731; United carried 14,744; and Delta served 3,655 passengers during the same month.
In terms of fuel sales measured by gallons used in September, there was a decrease to 654,301 gallons from the previous year's figure of 685,463 gallons—down by approximately 4.55%. However, on an annual basis for FY 2024, fuel sales increased by about 7.23%.
Parking revenue for September amounted to $720,182 compared to $620,499 last year—a significant increase of over sixteen percent.
Historical data reveals a consistent growth pattern with airline passenger numbers climbing each year since FY2010-11 when it recorded just over half a million departures annually.
