A non-profit organization is set to hold a launch event at Astound Stadium on October 12. The inaugural Love Midland Kickoff Event will provide an opportunity for interested individuals to engage in activities and learn about volunteer projects.
In an October 11 Facebook post, Mayor Lori Blong extended an invitation to those who wish to volunteer or learn more about the initiative. "The event presents an opportunity to come together as a community," she said.
According to Love Midland’s website, the event will commence at 8 a.m. with breakfast and activities. The mayor and Midland Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard are scheduled as guest speakers. Between 9:45 a.m. and 10 a.m., participants will be dispatched to their project sites, where they will work on designated projects until noon. There will also be giveaways.
Love Midland describes itself as a city-wide movement aimed at promoting social, economic, and spiritual flourishing for all people through the demonstration of Jesus Christ's love. For more information about the group, visit https://lovemidland.org/
