The development timeline for a new bar in the western portion of the city has been postponed to next year, as per a filing with a state regulatory agency.

In August, Midland Times reported that Midland Bar would include an open bar, with groundbreaking expected this fall at an estimated cost of $1 million.

According to a recent filing, the project will now feature an 18,925 square-foot steel-framed building at an estimated cost of $1.5 million. The project is anticipated to commence on January 6, 2025, and be completed within a year. The previous filing described the project as comprising large open-air canopy houses, a central open-air bar, and ample garden space beneath the canopy. Restrooms and storage space will be situated in a conditioned service building. Additionally, maintenance equipment will be stored in a garden shed.

The filing states that Midland Bar will be owned by Clay Woody from West Lake Hills and located at 5608 Westridge Boulevard.

According to Loopnet, the 2.12-acre property adjacent to Sam’s Club and HEB is zoned for commercial use and had an estimated value of $369,000 during a recent property tax assessment.
