The Texas Transportation Commission convened on September 26, 2024, to discuss and approve funding allocations for public transportation in the state. A total of $44.4 million has been awarded to 31 public transit agencies across Texas, with the aim of supporting rural bus services.

The funding includes $18.5 million from the federal Bus and Bus Facilities Program designated for fleet improvements, while an additional $8.4 million is allocated for facility enhancements. State contributions amount to $4.6 million for fleet advancements and $2.1 million for facilities.

Furthermore, three rural transit districts will benefit from a share of $7.4 million earmarked specifically for low-emission vehicle initiatives.
