Sixto Moreno, Masonry Worker Known for His Optimism, Passes Away at 73

Midland – Sixto Moreno, aged 73, passed away peacefully at his home on September 16, 2024. Born on March 25, 1951, in Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, to Jesusita and Eufemio Moreno, Sixto immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life for his family. He worked primarily in masonry throughout his life, finding joy in spending time with his wife and loved ones. Known for his passion for dancing, singing, and composing lyrics, Sixto will be remembered for his optimistic and charming personality.

Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Miguel, Armando, and Juan, Sixto is survived by his wife Rosa Moreno, sisters Marcela Benavides, Julia Mercado, Antonia Galindo, Manuela Villa, and Flora Baeza, as well as daughters Veronica Moreno, Arcenia Pizarro (Gustavo Pizarro), Yecenia Leyva (Israel Leyva), thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren who held a special place in his heart.

Visitation will be held at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Chapel on Wednesday, September 18th from 5:00-9:00 pm, Thursday, September 19th from 9:00 am-9:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm, and on Friday, September 20th from 9:00 am-1:00 pm.

Funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, September 20th at 2:00 pm at San Miguel Arcangel Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers for the service include Alex Rodriguez, Gustavo Pizarro Jr., Andrew Brito, Daniel Pizarro, Israel Levya Jr., Isaac Leyva, Isael Leyva, and D'mari Lanigan.
