Midland, Texas- Maxine Skaggs, 86, passed away at her home in Midland, Texas on Saturday, August 3, 2024 following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Skaggs, born on August 26, 1937, in DeLeon, TX, was surrounded by loved ones when she peacefully passed.

Skaggs, known as "Mac," was the youngest child of Alton and Ina Mae Quinn and had a brother, James, and a sister, Margaret. She married Bruce Skaggs in December 1953 in Comanche County and settled in Midland in 1955 after living in various places in Texas and Louisiana while Bruce served in the Army. Skaggs was a dedicated homemaker and worked in retail stores and the Midland Lee Youth Center. She enjoyed attending estate and garage sales, where she had a knack for finding great deals.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband of 65 years, Skaggs is survived by her sister, Margaret Lightfoot, her children Teresa Holiedy, Tim Skaggs, and Tammy Brookshire, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her family brought her immense joy, and she cherished the time spent with them.

The family extends their gratitude to Hospice of Midland and in particular Teresa and Dennis, who served as Mac's primary caregivers during her 5 ½ year battle with Parkinson's Disease.

A visitation will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, August 9, 2024, followed by services at 1:00pm at Wilshire Park Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
