In 1948, Jose married the love of his life, Rosa Del Bosque Castellon, and together they were blessed with 8 children. A devoted supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, Jose, also known as Tasa, garnered a reputation in the Midland community as a hardworking family man. After dedicating 42 years as head chef at Luigi's, Jose retired to care for his beloved wife until her passing in 2004. He found joy in spending quality time with his family and socializing with friends at Rudy’s, all while remaining an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Crescencio Reyes and Emilia Sanchez, wife Rosa Reyes, grandchildren Summer Reyes and Daniel Jasso, and great-grandson Joseph Muñoz. He is survived by his 8 children, 22 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 47 great-great-grandchildren, a cherished friend Adolfo Ramirez, and a host of relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home in Midland, TX, with a rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral mass will take place on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers include Elias Trujillo Jr., David Valverde Jr., Frank Caro, Ryan Overton, Sabastien Reyes, Michael Reyes, Christian Piña, and Robert Olgin, with Adam Garcia and Roberto Garcia Jr. as Honorary Pallbearers.
