Former Midland Mayor Bobby Burns has been named the Midland Chamber’s 2024 recipient of the Wynn Award.

According to a Sept. 12 Facebook post by the chamber, Burns was selected for the accolade because of his long-standing commitment to the growth and prosperity of Midland.

The post said that Burns played key roles in the development of the Midland International Air & Space Port (MAF), Loop 250, and the Scharbauer Sports Complex.

Aside from occupying the city’s highest office, Burns also served as the chamber’s president and chief executive officer (CEO) for 12 years.

The Wynn Award is named after Marvin Wynn, former CEO of the Midland Chamber, and is presented to individuals who have contributed at least ten years of impactful work to driving economic growth and enhancing community well-being.

Burns will officially accept his award at the chamber's 2024 Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon at the Bush Convention Center on Sept. 25.

Table sponsorships and tickets are available for purchase until Sept. 19.
