Mayor Lori Blong lauded Firehawk Aerospace for conducting what has been described as another test day for its hybrid rocket engines. Firehawk has a test operations site north of State Highway 191 between Midland and Odessa.

Blong shared a screenshot of Firehawk Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder Will Edwards’s LinkedIn post about the launch on Facebook.

The mayor credited the Midland Development Corporation (MDC) for helping bring the company to the Tall City. She said that Firehawk’s presence in the city advances aerospace innovation in ways that are safer, more efficient, and more accessible.

Firehawk’s hybrid rocket engines combine the power of traditional liquid bi-propellant engines with a 3D-printed fuel design.

Blong said that it’s exciting to watch the industry take off in Midland, taking pride in the city’s role in reshaping the future of aerospace technology. Not only is it an investment in technology, according to Blong, but an investment in people, in jobs, and in Midland's future.

Established in 2019, Firehawk has made it its mission to improve America’s defense and aerospace capabilities by producing hybrid rocket engines that are safer, lower cost, and deliver a higher standard of performance.
