The Hotel Santa Rita project will now have a new name after Omni Hotels & Resorts signed a development agreement with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP.

According to a news release from Omni Hotels & Resorts, the project will now be known as Omni Midland Hotel and will include a 135-room luxury hotel in the downtown portion of the city. The hotel will feature 15,000 square feet of meeting space, a 7,000 square-foot ballroom, a spa, a rooftop pool, a lobby bar with an all-day dining concept, and a Bob's Steak and Chop House, along with 800 parking spaces.

The Dallas-based hotel chain will have over 50 upscale hotels with the development of Omni Midland Hotel, its 12th hotel in Texas. The hotel is expected to break ground in the summer of 2025. The City Council had previously approved the $170 million hotel project during a January meeting.

"This development opens up endless possibilities for more conferences, conventions, and events at the Barbara and George H.W. Bush Convention Center. With Omni’s expertise in the meetings and convention market, this new convention center hotel will undoubtedly enhance our economy and increase visitation across all travel segments," said Midland Mayor Lori Blong.

According to the news release, two design firms will work with the developers: HKS Architects will handle the architectural aspects while Looney & Associates will manage the project’s interior design.
