Midland County Commissioners Court met Aug. 7.

Be it remembered that on Wednesday the 7th day of August 2024 at 11:03 a.m. a special meeting of the Midland County Commissioners Court was called to order in the Commissioners Courtroom, located at the Midland County Courthouse, 500 North Loraine Street, Midland, Texas.

The following members were present:

TERRY JOHNSON, County Judge

SCOTT RAMSEY, County Commissioner Precinct No. 1

JEFF SOMERS, County Commissioner Precinct No. 2

LUIS D. SANCHEZ, County Commissioner Precinct No. 3

DIANNE ANDERSON, County Commissioner Precinct No. 4

1. Receive presentation from MCUD.

Dr. Shelton Viney, MCUD Chairman declared their meeting open. Alan Lang, MCUD Vice President and Israel Rodriguez, MCUD Treasurer introduced themselves to the court members. Mr. Rodney Rhoades, MCUD District Manager thanked the court for their continued support and explained the challenges they are facing while still reaching the March 2026 completion date.

Kevin Krueger with Parkhill Smith & Cooper gave a detailed presentation. Jay Edwards, with Parkhill Smith & Cooper answered some of the Court’s questions.

Thomas Kerr with Parkhill Smith & Cooper gave a detailed business plan presentation.

Mr. Rhoades discussed the funding challenges and the need for an additional $18,304,210. Mr. Rhoades mentioned some funding sources that he is planning on reaching out to. Timing is an issue. We need to secure funding as soon as possible. Dr. Viney thanked the Court for their time to listen to the presentation.

County Judge Johnson thanked MCUD for their work and presentation. Commissioner Sanchez had a few questions for the MCUD members. Wished the grants had been applied for earlier in this process. Thank you for your work. Mr. Rhoades thanked the court for listening to the presentation.

2. Discuss and take action on water projects and funding with MCUD No action taken.
