The deadline to enroll in Midland 101 has been extended. Interested individuals now have until August 23 to submit applications.
According to an August 15 Facebook post, Midland 101 is the city’s citizen education program. To join the group for the 2024-2025 class, applicants can access and complete an application at https://www.midlandtexas.gov/1255/Midland-101. Applications can also be picked up at the City Manager's Office at 300 N. Loraine.
The post stated that through a span of seven sessions, participants thoroughly learn about local government operations. Among the topics discussed are the operation of the Midland International Air & Space Port (MAF), which ranks eighth among primary commercial service airports in Texas; the development and revitalization of downtown; and the maintenance of the city’s water supply.
In a Facebook post of her own, Mayor Lori Blong said that the class isn’t just about learning but connecting with those who share a love for Midland. Blong added that class size is limited, so applicants must hurry.
