The Midland Police Department (MPD) successfully located a toddler who went missing and reunited the child with his family on August 12.

A Facebook post attributed to the Permian Basin law enforcement agency stated that authorities initially searched for the three-year-old, identified only as Angel.

According to the post, police found Angel near Caldera Boulevard and Loop 250 on the north service road.

The boy is believed to reside in apartments in the vicinity.

Angel’s family was subsequently located, and the child has been returned, the post said.

MPD did not mention whether Angel’s parents or legal guardians face any charges in relation to the incident.

The Child Crime Prevention & Safety Center’s website states that a child goes missing or is abducted in the U.S. every 40 seconds, with nearly 900,000 children reported missing annually.

An AMBER alert is activated when a law enforcement agency believes a missing child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
