McCoy: ‘Blessed to announce my commitment to UTEP football’

Elijah McCoy has decided where he will play football at the next level. The Midland High School running back announced on X that he has committed to play Division I football for the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP).

"I'm blessed to announce my commitment to @UTEPFB! Thank you @CoachSWUTEP and @COACHJMACRB for this opportunity. #WinTheWest #PicksUp ⛏️⛏️ @Coach_Fortune @CoachCam36," said Midland ISD.

In February, McCoy announced on X that he received his first division offer from UTEP.

McCoy, a three-star player, is the highest-rated offensive commit that the Miners have recruited thus far, according to Miner Insider. "I want to be one of those people to take a chance," he said about choosing UTEP.

Earlier this month, McCoy also announced on X that he received an offer to play for the newly established program at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).

According to 247Sports, McCoy, 5’8" and 180 pounds, is entering his senior year with the Bulldogs. In 2023, he rushed for 1,548 yards and 22 touchdowns while averaging 6.56 yards per carry. Outside of football, McCoy also runs track where he ran several sub-11.00 100-meter times, including 10.81 and 10.82.
