The Midland metropolitan statistical area (MSA) recorded the lowest unemployment rate in Texas for June, at 2.9%, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission last week.
Amarillo followed with a 3.4% unemployment rate, while Odessa posted a 4.0% jobless rate. The state average for June was 4.5%. In comparison, Midland's unemployment rate stood at 2.6% in June of the previous year.
The civilian labor force in Midland for June reached 116,900, nearly 3,000 more than the same period last year when it was recorded at 114,200.
