Construction will soon begin on Greenwood Independent School District’s (ISD) multipurpose facility.

According to a July filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), the district, led by Greenwood ISD Superintendent Ariel Elliott, is expected to begin work on the $12 million project on August 1 and complete it by October 15, 2025. The public school district is based in an unincorporated community in Midland County and serves approximately 3,000 students.

The facility is being funded by Proposition B of the 2023 Greenwood ISD Bond Election, according to the district website. The 68,900 square-foot practice facility will be used by the band, cheer teams, athletic teams, and will also be available to the public during designated community hours.

"Greenwood is really unique because we do not have a city, so when you come out here at night we host all the stuff, so getting those pieces in place is going to be a great thing," Elliott told Your Basin in April concerning the project.

According to the TDLR filing, the design firm for the project is Lubbock-based Parkhill and the facility will be located at 2700 FM 1379.
