A building in a newly opened retail center will undergo renovations for a popular indoor sport within one of its buildings, according to a filing with a state regulatory agency.

According to the filing, the Summit Center will renovate building six at an estimated $1 million. The scope of work for the project involves interior finish-out for the 15,020 square-foot building six of the retail campus that consists of indoor pickleball courts and restrooms.

The rehab project is expected to begin on Aug. 1 and run until Dec. 1, according to the filing. The design firm Rhotenberry Wellen Architects is on board the project. Summit Center, LLC, led by Matt Johnson, is the owner of the retail center. Johnson also founded Summit Petroleum LLC with Dennis Johnson in April of 2007.

The Summit Center, located in the northern portion of the city, is situated on 20 acres, which includes retail and office space surrounding a four-acre park designed for public enjoyment. Work on the retail campus began on Dec. 10, 2021, and tenants began moving into the building in July 2023.
