The Midland Police Department (MPD) responded to a July 19 traffic incident that claimed the life of a 43-year-old man.

According to a Facebook post from the Permian Basin law enforcement agency, the decedent was a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Dallas Street and Florida Avenue.

Citing the police department, Permian Basin stations KMID News and KPEJ News reported that the victim was identified as Danny Glen Howl.

An incident report indicated that the collision began when a vehicle pulled out in front of a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 traveling eastbound in the 300 block of East Florida Avenue, according to KMID and KPEJ.

Authorities said that the Chevrolet’s teen driver was then forced to "an evasive maneuver into the outside lane to avoid collision," KMID and KPEJ reported.

Howl was one of a pair of pedestrians crossing the intersection of Dallas and Florida just as the Chevrolet struck him. He was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH), where he succumbed to his injuries, the stations reported.
