Midland Run Crew is launching its Tall City Beer Run 2024 event series, offering camaraderie, fitness, and delicious craft brews to attendees every Thursday evening. Founder Robert Gomez shared his excitement, reflecting on the journey to this milestone.
“We started back in May 2020 with just four friends that loved running and drinking craft beers,” Gomez said. “We had the idea in 2019 when the brewery first opened but it was on hold due to COVID. We are on our fifth season of our Tall City Beer Runs.”
Gomez emphasized the core ethos behind their beer runs, highlighting their dual mission of fostering community spirit while championing health and fitness.
"Our hope with our beer runs is that it creates community while promoting health and fitness," Gomez said, underlining the inclusive nature of the event.
The event, Gomez said, offers flexibility to participants of all fitness levels, with one, two, or three-mile options catering to the diverse preferences of those looking for a fun way to burn off steam and cool down with a craft brew, age permitting.
"You can run, walk, or jog and not feel that you have to be at a certain fitness level," he said, emphasizing that the event is designed to be accessible to everyone.
With an average of 60 participants weekly, the Tall City Beer Runs have become a staple in the community calendar, drawing individuals from all walks of life. From parents with young children to seasoned runners in their 70s, the event's appeal transcends age and fosters inclusivity.
For Gomez, the partnership with Tall City Brewing was a natural fit, citing their shared values and a mutual passion for exceptional craft beer.
"It was a 'no brainer' to partner with Tall City," he said, expressing gratitude for the brewery's unwavering support.
Looking beyond the brews and the runs, Gomez emphasized the broader impact of the Midland Run Crew on the community. From events and meetups to free educational activities, the crew serves as a hub for fitness enthusiasts of all stripes, offering support, encouragement, and a welcoming environment for all.
"We want anyone and everyone to know that we are a run crew that wants to 'meet you where you're at and take you where you want to be,'" Gomez said of the crew's ethos. "We always encourage and never discourage."
The Midland Run Crew invites locals to lace up their sneakers and join them every Thursday at Tall City Brewing Co., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. until Oct. 31, promising an evening of fitness, friendship, and perhaps most importantly, fantastic beer.
