The City of Midland has reported a significant increase in airline passengers flying out of Midland International Air and Space Port during the first six months of fiscal year 2024. According to airport officials, the number of passengers has surged by 10.89% compared to the previous fiscal year.

In March 2024, a total of 60,482 passengers flew out of the airport, marking an 8.1% increase from March 2023. Southwest Airlines alone accounted for approximately 49% of the total revenue passengers in March.

Speaking on the passenger numbers, City officials stated, "Passengers at Midland International Air & Space Port have shown a remarkable increase in the first half of fiscal year 2024."

Moreover, the addition of Delta Airlines as the fourth airline to provide service at the airport from April 22, 2024, is expected to further boost passenger traffic.

In addition to the rise in passenger numbers, parking revenue at the Midland International Air & Space Port also saw a substantial increase. In March 2024, parking revenue surged by 15.9% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching $660,904. The fiscal year-to-date total parking revenue stands at $3.882 million, reflecting a 14.63% increase over the first six months of FY 2023.

The City of Midland remains optimistic about the upward trend in passenger numbers and revenue at the airport, signaling positive growth and economic activity in the region.
